Congratulations on your decision to run for public office!
The first step in running for office is to file.
Filing is done online by filling out a “Declaration of Candidacy” either in our office or on any PC. Filings are not official until reviewed for accuracy and completeness, validated, and approved by the Elections Office. Your name will then appear on the Grays Harbor County Elections website as a candidate.
Our office will accept Declarations of Candidacy at this website from 9:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, through 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018. Online submissions of Declarations of Candidacy will not be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2018. However, you will still be able to file in person at our office until 4:30 p.m. Friday. Assistance with this process is available by calling the Elections Office at (360) 964-1556.
To submit a Declaration of Candidacy, you must meet the following requirements:
* You must be a registered voter in the district for which you are filing
* You must have a valid email address
Withdrawal of Declaration of Candidacy
A Declaration of Candidacy may only be withdrawn by submitting a written request for withdrawal to the Grays Harbor County Elections Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018.
Please note: There is NO withdrawal period for the 3-day special filing period
Your filing fees may be paid by debit or credit card using the online filing wizard. If the filing fee is not paid by debit or credit card, the Elections Office must receive your filing fee by 4:30 p.m. on Friday of filing week.
Candidate Voters' Pamphlet Statements
Grays Harbor County, working with the State Elections department, makes available an online Voter's Pamphlet. You will receive an email after you have filed, with instructions on how to upload a statement, a video, and a photograph. You will be notified of the details through your email.
