The Accounting Section is part of the Grays Harbor County Auditor's office.
We pay all the bills of every department in the county. We process payroll and prepare the annual financial report of the county.
Each month approximately 1,000 payment requests are received and paid.
Departments request payments using a voucher, with substantiating backup attached. A payment warrant is then issued by the Auditor’s office for eventual redemption by the Treasurer. Vouchers and backup materials are kept six years.
We prepare 3 payrolls per month for over 675 people. We process our own county employees and employees of several special districts including transit and many fire districts.
The payroll section is responsible for preparing tax deposits, regulatory reports, and assisting other county departments with questions about personnel benefits.
