Dike and Drain Filing & Election Information



Candidate Filing

·         Candidate filing occurs at Skagit County Elections.

·         Candidates must be:

o   Registered to vote in the state of Washington for a period of not less than thirty days before the election, and

o   The owner of land located in the special district for a period of not less than thirty days before the election.[1]

·         Candidates can file for one position only.

·         Candidates do not pay a filing fee.

Election

·         The election will be all vote-by-mail, as are all elections in Washington State.

·         Ballots will be mailed to voters on Wednesday January 17th, 2018, 20 days before the election. Ballots must be returned to Skagit County Elections, or postmarked, no later than Election Day.

·         Skagit County Elections will charge each district for which it conducts an election. We do this for all elections as authorized by law[2] and by Washington State’s budgeting and accounting regulations.
